Nature, Technology....

To me nature is " the birth of venus," by botticelli. Venus has nature all around her. The ocean and the wind. Venus as a goddess is also ideal for painting nature. Venus being blown around in a shell. Venus the god of love she is being born through nature. The medium is definitly oil on canvas, since in botticellis time there was no such thing as acyrilc, pastels or photography. Some would call this pornography however i disagree it is classical art! There is a sense of implied motion when one of the gods are blowing the wind towards her. This is such a beautiful painting and such a beautiful representation of Nature. For the comment in Chinese I would like toknow what it says in english please

Race Klan culture

The picture i am writing on is the wedding picture of the African Americans. It showed the rising of the African American middle class before the depression hit. It showed they were not much different from whites except for the color of their skin. Professor Stubblefield made an interesting comment how without the color of their skin they could be white. The colors of the photography use very interesting then again they didn't have color photography or digital photography back then. Makes this photo even more interesting. Makes the color of the clothes pop out, the color of the skin blend in with the background. Their is a sense of implied motion when you look at the bride and groom. This is a very good example of Clan and Race

THe body comparison

I Think a example of body would be Bradd pitt picture vs. Rembrandt self portrait.
The way we view the body has changed over hundreds of years. How we look at Brad pitt now as an ideal body when in the late 1500's rembrandt had more of an ideal body. Muscles now are very in style when hundreds of years ago soilders and farmers had muscle.

My example of Protest etc

The peice of artwork I am writing on is a example of the horrors that went on during WW2. The dark colors, endless roads signify the tragedy of WW2 that is never to be forgotten by anyone.
The texture by the artist Anstem Keifer is known for glueing hay onto this painting. It gives the art a sense of sadness and makes the road more realistic even though most the colors are blurred and its an unknown road. Its an endless road never to be forgotten. A famous peice of artwork by Anstem Keifer never to be forgotten " heath of branden burg."

Power politics Glory

I think there are many different examples of power politics and glory. Mao Ze dong was a great example of politics how his image is forever engrained in your brain even though he isn't even alive anymore. He still in the money everywhere in china. Fransico Goya 3rd of may is another great example of the ploys in politics. The represantional in Goyas artwork as if he were there. Another good example of politcs and Power would be " uncle sam wants you," 40's war posters. This picture is very propagandish yet it is engrained in your memory what uncle sam wants. one knows what he looks like an old man with a long beard wearing a a top hat and were small.

Art Vs. Pornography Get a better outlook on Art and your mind out of the gutter!!

I agree with Dax whomever Dax may be. Art is about expression not questioning the artist. Art will always have a point, or a statement. Also to call art pornography!! That is outrageous because Art is higher up then pornography it is a class all of its own. Look at the detail the artist does before you think about whether its moral or not because that question has been around for centuries. Art is all about is it realism, sexual or expressionism. What is the artist point?To change that idea is wrong. Look at the guerrilla girls for example they're taking nudity to a whole different level. Why do all women have to be nude? Why can't men be nude? Or both? To consider their artwork pornography because of the nudity you have got to be joking. I also will use that African royalty sculpture as an example of sexuality. When that piece was carved sexuality was a good think the women was the example of sexuality and fertility. Now in response to the Koons painting I believe it has a lot to do with sexuality and to show people Nudity is okay. The reason for all these opinion's is because art is opinionated.

Deriving Meaning of Degas Ballerina Class

Deriving meaning to me is to take artwork and decipher it.The meaning behind the Degas Ballerina Class, . " The dance foyer at the Opera Ru le Peletier,"1872 has many different meanings to it. It has a touch of happiness to it yet also mystery behind it. The people practicing and the emotions on their faces.

The lighting comes from the right hand side which makes you focus on the left. Your main eye focuses on the chair. How the chair shows implied motion anda hint of mystique. The chair has a bit of mystique to it for example: what is on there that chair? Is it dancing items or items left by accident on the chair? The sense of implied motion because the items onthe chair on not fully visually you can't really pull it apart it leaves alot for the imagination to wonder.
Also learning that degas worked with photography can explain the harshness of some of the lines. It has a very formal element and classic element to it. When defining the line in the painting, and the positive versus negative space how scattered it is.Also how the left becomes dominate over the right side of the painting. All these are examples of deriving meaning.

Peaceful serenity chaotic still

I really liked the japanese painting" thatched cottage in a bamboo thicket returning shades of willow," by busonyoua. I liked the serene meaning behind it, for example your in a chaotic world and all of a sudden you see this peacful painting and it makes you want to be in that painting. Professor Stubblefield makes an interesting comparison of this painting and a Tag body spray still. His argument has an excellent point on how you can figure out the meaning behind the tag body spray in 1/2 of a second, however to look at this japanese painting it takes a lot more than 1/2 second to figure out the meaning behind it. Thatched cottaged is an open compostion it doesn't fall into any one catorgory which is nice to think about because it is such a peaceful painting. To compare an Open compositon painting with a Tactial Texture painting well that would be another comment.

Disturbing Crows in Wheatfield

I was astonished by how rushed Van goghs brushstrokes were in his last painting" Crows in Wheatfield." Van Goghs Crows in Wheatfield compared to Starry nights looks unfinshed like he meant to do more however couldn't. " Crows in Wheatfield," seems disturbing because of the crows and the weird looking wheat, compared to "Starry Night," which is peaceful and serene. Not to mention crows signify death as if he was planning his last painting like the crows of death were waiting for him.
